The Faraway Island

There once was a man who longed to be all on his own…

He jumps ship, swims to a barren rock, plants a few grains of rice and starts a new life. He hides away when sailors come, and they are amazed to discover rice growing on an uninhabited island. When they come, they leave behind more plants and game-birds, and soon, looked after by the castaway, the island is bursting with produce. But the Queen of Portugal demands to see the person responsible.
