Dragonwings

One in a series of books about a family in which the father has left his wife and child in China to try tomake his fortune in the new land of America. In this book the young son is sent to live with his father and after some serious disagreements within the Chines ‘Brotherhood’ they leave of town of the Tang people to face the dangers of life amongst the Demons – the non-Chinese Americans.
This book gives a clear insight into the Chinese culture of the time and how it was interwoven into the new life in America. Younger readers may find the long mythical stories irrelevant at first but will be well rewarded when the great climax of the airplane flying scene is reached.
