Dave at Night

It is 1926 and suddenly, tough eleven year old Dave is orphaned and placed in the cold care of New York’s Hebrew Home for Boys. Within it’s gates Dave discovers a complex world of rare friendships and terrifying enemies. Outside, there’s another world to be discovered; the nighttime streets of Harlem are alive with the hope and magic of the Harlem Renaissance. This stunning novel tells a tale of terrible loss and hard-won gains, cruel relations and kind strangers, great poverty and immeasurable wealth. Most of all, though, it tells a tale about the power of friendship.
