The Bear and the Bees

By Ella Richardson · Illustrated by Lydia Monks About

It takes a brave bear to be different! On Gruzzle the Bear’s first day at Bee School, the other pupils are none too friendly. They look the same as each other, sound the same as each other and even all have the same name! It’s just poor old Gruzzle who is different, and he sticks out like a sore thumb. But Gruzzle is not a bear who is easily deterred. He hatches a plan to show those beastly bees that there’s nothing wrong with being yourself… whatever that may be!

Lydia Monks

Lydia Monks, the widely celebrated English author and illustrator of children’s books, finds that her main sources of inspiration come from everyday life. And from everyday life comes three kooky and original picture story books about animals that are delightfully dysfunctional. There is a cat that wishes she was a dog, a spider that wants to become part of a family and a donkey who thinks he is an alarm clock. This September, her latest release More Eee-Orrh! will join Aaaarrgghh Spider! and I Wish I Were a Dog (new in board book in September) as Lydia Monks titles that are destined to become best-loved children’s books.
