Waking Beauty

By Leah Wilcox · Illustrated by Lydia Monks About

Everyone knows Sleeping Beauty has to be woken with a kiss, except Prince Charming. Every time the fairies watching over her try to tell him, he interrupts with his ideas of how to wake her. Eventually he gets the message, and his reaction is priceless: ‘One hundred years of morning breath Wow! That could be the kiss of death!’

With just as much interactive fun as Falling for Rapunzel (an IRA Notable Book and the winner of Maryland’s Black-Eyed Susan Picture Book Award), this fractured fairy tale will elicit laughter that no one will be able to sleep through.

Lydia Monks

Lydia Monks, the widely celebrated English author and illustrator of children’s books, finds that her main sources of inspiration come from everyday life. And from everyday life comes three kooky and original picture story books about animals that are delightfully dysfunctional. There is a cat that wishes she was a dog, a spider that wants to become part of a family and a donkey who thinks he is an alarm clock. This September, her latest release More Eee-Orrh! will join Aaaarrgghh Spider! and I Wish I Were a Dog (new in board book in September) as Lydia Monks titles that are destined to become best-loved children’s books.
