Sailmaker

In the sequel to ‘The Keeper’ Joel and his friend Mei are involved in an exciting mystery and adventure when they befriend the solitary lighthouse keeper on a nearby island. The plot never falters and demands to be read to the end, yet the book is strong in both its characterisations and portrayal of Joel’s struggles to master his behaviour problems, the nagging sorrow of his sense of worthlessness and its accompanying insecurities. Suited to readers aged 11+
