The Most Beautiful Lantern

The Most Beautiful Lantern centres around the Chinese ‘mid-autumn festival’ Zhong Qiu Jie, and the preparations of Mei-Ling who is determined to carry ‘the most beautiful lantern in the whole parade’ when her school celebrates the event. On Saturday she and her mother go to the market where they spy a beautiful fish lantern. Mei-Ling agrees that its shiny scales are beautiful but she is not sure it is the most beautiful lantern of all. The next day she goes again with her grandfather and sees a tiger lantern. Again it is very beautiful, with glowing green eyes, but is it the most beautiful of all?
