Sykie

Sykie Martin has too much imagination for her own good. Everyone says so – her principal, the kids at school, even her parents. And maybe they’ve got a point. After all, Sykie’s imagination is starting to become dangerously real. On the other hand, as the novel tells us: “Take away imagination, and only the grey bits are left.” This is a high-adventure fantasy novel for younger readers based in the real world. It explores the untrammelled power of the imagination in a way that only Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland has achieved before. While Sykie herself is a great character, so too are the human characters and creatures that she meets within the limitless realm of her imagination.
