Throughout his seventy years, he wrote plays, poems, novels, and travel guides, but he is most remembered for his fairy tales. With them, he created a new style of literature. Andersen wrote about feelings we all have from childhood to old agehope, love, longing, sorrow, loss, and joyand today, nearly two centuries after they were written, those stories remain fresh and new. Pirkko Vainio was born in Finland and studied at the Academy of Art in Helsinki. She now lives in Italy, where she works as an illustrator and a graphic designer. Among her many books are The Dream House, winner of Frankfurts Prix Octogonale Graphique, and recently published Little Bunny Finds Christmas. Her work has been exhibited throughout the world, including at the Musee des Beaux Arts in Caen, France; the Itabashi Art Museum in Tokyo; and the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition in Italy
