Why Wash? Learning About Personal Hygiene

This entertaining book covers basic issues of personal hygiene – washing hands, body, hair and cleaning teeth. Simple, clear text by an expert writer for the very young addresses the child reader directly and encourages him or her to ask questions and discuss the topic with adults. Thus, it will help to foster in the child a sense of responsibility for their own hygiene. The delightful illustrations by a highly successful illustrator provide many further opportunities for discussion between adult and child readers. A topic web for teachers and carers suggests ways to use the book for activities across the curriculum. The book is completed by a glossary, an index and a list of further resources that will help extend children’s learning.
