The Wee Christmas Cabin of Carn-Na-Ween

A newborn child is left upon a cabin doorstep in Carn-na-ween. Oona Hegarty grows up kind and clever, but doomed never to marry or have her own home. Instead, she spends her days minding the children of widowers or tending to the sick and the old, only to be turned out when her usefulness is spent. As an old woman, Oona finds herself homeless on Christmas Eve. The mysterious Gentle People, however, have no intention of allowing an old woman’s lifelong kindness to go unrewarded, especially not on a white Christmas.
