Leon Spreads His Wings

By Wendy Lee · Illustrated by Petr Horacek About

A humorous and touching set of three illustrated, linked stories about a young boy who faces up to his fear of flying.

When Mum and Dad want to go on holiday, Leon doesn’t want to go to any of the places they suggest. When his family are invited to visit his new baby cousin in Spain, Leon doesn’t want to go there either. Aeroplanes are so big and loud — and how do they stay in the air? But when baby Jorge comes to stay, he doesn’t mind flying one bit — and he’s only one! Leon realises that at six and three quarters, it’s time to spread his wings.

Walker Stories support beginner readers making the transition from picture books in an engaging, entertaining and accessible way.
Each title features three highly illustrated, individual short stories linked by one set of characters, so readers can build familiarity and confidence.
