A Book of Pacific Lullabies
Our aim has been to produce the most beautiful full colour trade picture book published for children and families in this country. And with a superb collection of lullabies from a distinguished and talented cast of writers and simply breathtaking international standard illustrations from an exciting new illustrator, we think we’ve achieved it. Editor Tessa Duder’s own family favourite lullaby is joined by contributions from Joy Cowley, Margaret Mahy, Peggy Dunstan, John Marsdon, Hinewehi Mohi, Patricia Grace, Barbara Else, Diana Noonan, Sia Figiel, Trish Gribben, Colin Gibson, Jocelyn Marshall, Anna Maria Dell’oso, Wendy Orr, Joy Watson, Michelanne Forster and Melina Fasavalu.
Variously parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles themselves, they bring together lullabies from New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands, creating a unique collection of lullabies for our children, full of the natural rhythms, images and metaphors of our Pacific World.
