A Grain of Rice
SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY
A Grain of Rice
Pong Lo, a peasant asks for the emperor’s daughter in marriage and is summarily banished to the kitchen. He saves the girl’s life and is given a wish as a reward. He asks for a grain of rice a day to be doubled each day for 100 days. At the end fo the time, he owns more rice than is available, and so gets the girl’s hand in marriage. It would be interesting to do a comparison of the similarities and differences of the two stories.
