Angel Girl Based on a True Story

By Laurie Friedman · Illustrated by Ofra Amit

Based on a true story, this picture book tells how Holocaust survivor Herman was kept alive by his “angel girl”.

Herman lives in a labour camp. It is 1942, and the Nazis have made him a prisoner. He is forced to work long hours and his only food is watery soup. Then she appears. An angel girl, bearing an apple for him every day, giving him strength and hope. The war ends and many years later, Herman and his Angel girl meet again on a blind date, and share one of the greatest ever love stories.
