At Home

This entertaining book covers basic issues of safety around a typical home. Thus, it looks at electrical safety, safety with hot and sharp items, fire, avoiding falls, household cleaners and medicines. Simple, clear text by an expert writer for the very young addresses the child reader directly and poses open questions that encourage him or her to think about the issues in their own context. Thus, it will help to foster a sense of responsibility for their own safety in the home. The delightful illustrations by a highly successful illustrator provide many further opportunities for discussion between adult and child readers. Checked by a consultant in safety education, notes for parents, teachers and carers suggest ways to use the book and for activities that will help to consolidate the lessons learned from it. The book is completed by a list of further resources that will help extend children’s learning.
