Be Brave, Little Lion!

Lea is a lively and curious lion cub. One day she sets off exploring on her own. She pokes her nose into a termite hill, chases a shy porcupine, encounters a rude hyena, and is pushed out of her water hole by a huge scary rhinoceros. Frightened, Lea runs to her father.

“A lion is never afraid,” he tells her. “Running away is cowardly. Lions are brave. We fear no one.”

But that night, when they hear a thundering noise in the distance, it is Father Lion himself who seems afraid! Aren’t lions supposed to be brave? Or is there a difference between cowardice and caution?
