Bear and Chook by the Sea

In a follow up to the delightful Bear and Chook, the two lovable characters continue their adventures in Bear and Chook by the Sea. Bear and Chook are unexpected friends. Bear still likes adventure and Chook would still much rather have the quiet life! One day they decide to go and visit the sea. Chook is worried that they don t know the way and will get lost, but Bear is confident they will find it just around the pond, under the bridge, through the forest and over the mountain! A wonderfully warm read-aloud story about the dreamers in life and those who wish they d sometimes keep their feet more firmly on the ground.

Lisa Shanahan

Lisa Shanahan trained as an actor at Theatre Nepean, University of Western Sydney. Whilst studying, she taught drama and wrote plays for children. After completing her degree she undertook a Writing for Children course with Libby Gleeson where she discovered a great passion for writing stories for children. Her books include Sweetie May, Sweetie May Overboard!, What Rot!, Bear and Chook and two picture books with Allen & Unwin: Gordon’s Got a Snookie and The Postman’s Dog, both illustrated by Wayne Harris.

Emma Quay

Emma Quay grew up near Cambridge, England, and as a child drew little characters on every scrap of paper she could find. She wanted to be a children’s book illustrator from a very early age. Soon after college, The Victoria and Albert Museum in London purchased examples of Emma’s illustrative work, for its permanent collection of prints and drawings. After moving to Sydney in 1993, Emma was introduced to the publisher Mark Macleod with whom she has enjoyed working on five picture books to date. She both wrote and illustrated Reggie and Lu. Emma has also illustrated titles from the popular Aussie Nibbles series. Emma lives in Sydney with her Australian husband and two young daughters.
