Bird

This captivating picture book about a bird that can’t fly is a haunting story of courage, and reveals the joy and wonder that come from taking a chance. Beautifully illustrated and written in lyrical, rhythmical verse.
This beautiful story, written in verse, is a recollection by a boy who meets a strange bird on a beach. They share a common fear of life but are challenged when a colourful, charismatic fish turns up and invites them to dive headlong into the unknown. By diving into the sea, they dive straight into life and suddenly all their fears are not so scary anymore. For the first time, Bird is able to take flight and the boy finds bravery in his heart. I am no longer scared to be, the person hiding inside me.
