Broken Glass

Nile is charismatic, on the edge and out of control. For Clarkey, his best friend, being around him is a wild ride, one thing worth living for in their small town. But then Nile goes much too far, even for Clarkey, and he’s forced to testify against him. It’s the worst thing that has ever happened to him and the hardest thing he’s ever done. But before he knows it, the entire town has turned against him and Clarkey turns in on himself. Hiding away in his parents’ shop – as much a prisoner as Nile is in jail. But then, five years on, Nile is out of prison and back in town – threatening and angry – and the fragile peace that Clarkey has managed to find begins to falls apart. But beneath the surface of this sleepy country town is a terrible violence and before long, Clarkey will need to decide whose side he’s really on. But which side is worse? And what is Clarkey himself capable of? A stunning, frighteningly real debut novel from a very talented new voice
