Clancy's Long, Long Walk

Sam wants to walk to Steamers. It’s a fantastic beach, but it’s about six kilometres away and you can only get there by walking. Sam’s little brother, Clancy, wants to go too. Mum and Dad say it’s too far, and he isn’t big enough. But Clancy is determined, and in the end they give in. Sam and sister Dinah (who narrates the story) say they’ll help him.
Clancy has lots of adventures at the beach, and when it’s time to leave, he’s already tired. He starts the walk back very bravely, but in the end nothing will make him take another step.

Sam walks into the scrub and brings back a stick, telling Clancy that it’s a magic stick that will help him to walk. It’s special, and it’s just for Clancy. Aided by Sam’s loving support and the magic stick, Clancy strides ahead of the rest of the family, all the way back to the camp.
