Cross-Eyed Jack

A group of kids are working on a horror movie together, when they are flung back in time to the year 1867. There, they get caught up in a mystery surrounding the “Pigtail” nugget, stolen by a bushranger named Cross-Eyed Jack. They collect evidence regarding the disappearance of the nugget that could hold the solution to the mystery in the present.

This novel effectively mixes different genre-writing such as scenes from movies, TV reports and interviews, maps, riddles, wanted posters, interviews and historical documents, like journal entries and headstone inscriptions. This builds up the story from different points of view and takes advantage of the wide-ranging genre literacy of modern young people.
