Gathering Blue

Set in the future after the destruction of the world, Kira is a young disabled girl whose mother has just died. Fatherless and unable to be productive in the seemingly primitive society she finds herself valued by those in control for her unique weaving gifts. But her world is not as simple as it once seemed, as the true cruelty and control of her benefactors is revealed as she is reunited with her father. A society of stark contrasts is drawn with the spiritual and gentle artistic side of human nature being pitted against the brutal and physical. An enticing read for the 11+ age group with an ending which would welcome a sequel.
