Grandpa's Store

Born in 1948, Ken Arnold grew up amidst a farming community, being a fifth generation descendant of the original settlers at Arnold’s Bridge, 50 kilometres from Bendigo. His family moved to Bendigo in 1965 where Ken was educated at the Bendigo Institute of Technology before taking employment in warehousing and accountancy until 1976.
After establishing himself in the antique trade he saw a need for reference books pertaining to bottles and collectables. Since then there has been a progression of books dealing with these hobbies.
Ken is regarded as one of the leading authorities on antique bottles, Bendigo Pottery and collectables within Australia having won many State and National awards.
Today he specialises in Bendigo, Sandhurst and Eaglehawk area stoneware, advertising and bric-a-brac, Bendigo Pottery pre 1920. Ken has recently built the Federation Cash Store, on the lines of an old grocery shop which he has fitted out and filled with an extensive collection of Australian tins, cast iron items, Australian enamel and cardboard signs and other items pertaining to a grocery shop. This private museum with an antique shop is the result of twenty years of collecting. The museum is only open by appointment or invitation.
