Is That You Ruthie?

In this moving memoir, Ruth Hegarty, a well-known Brisbane elder and recipient of the Premier’s Award for services to the community, tells the inside story of life at the Cherbourg Mission, Queensland’s notorious Aboriginal institution. This lesson in history tells about the actual practice of segregation and control based on skin colour. It also tells of a triumphant life, and is written with humour, drama and grace.
