‘It’s your world, everyone else just lives in it.’ That’s what Gina says, but it doesn’t seem that way to Evie. Not while everyone else is out having fun. Not when her dad collapses on the side of the road. And, not while she’s being held captive at her nan’s place. But Evie doesn’t just moan her plight; she writes it. She writes about a mother she never met and an aunt she hasn’t seen in what seems like forever, about philosophy, hair dye, kissing strange boys and all the other stuff you’re supposed to be getting up to when you’re fifteen years old. But it doesn’t stop there, nor do things settle down when her dad comes home from hospital. Alcohol, existentialism, suicide, love and brain haemorrhages, Evie versus them all and comes out the other side… a little confused and dishevelled but carrying on nonetheless.
