Nine Hours North

A verse novel for young adults and adults by a very talented new author.
At twenty one, Adam feels old. He lives in Japan with his girlfriend, Sarah, and teaches English. Caught in the torpor of his work-life and ex-pat cynicism and tired of his relationship with Sarah, he feels crushed by the conservatism of Nagoya, the Japanese city they’ve spent the last two years working in.

While Sarah slaves over the details of their imminent departure on an epic holiday, Adam falls hard for a new arrival, Marianne, seeing in her everything that is missing from his life . . . someone who couldn’t be more different to the woman he thought he was in love with.

A beautiful, cutting-edge story about love, identity, culture and cultural disconnection, and being a man in our modern world.
