DESCRIPTIONFrom Avenue to Zeppelin, this charming alphabet book looks at New York City through the eyes of artists whose works are in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Each letter features multiple colourful images of places or experiences in the world’s greatest city. For example, see the Brooklyn Bridge in a Walker Evans photograph, a Don Kingman painting, and a Currier and Ives print. Harlem appears through the eyes of Romare Bearden, Faith Ringgold, and Jacob Lawrence. The magnificent Statue of Liberty and her torch are captured in vintage postcards and a Wendell MacRae photograph. There is a simple, colourful spread devoted to each letter of the alphabet, and at the back of the book is a checklist with thumbnail illustrations with identifying captions for the artworks, for ages 3 and up.
