On the Road

This entertaining book covers basic issues of safety on or near the road. Thus it looks at why roads can be dangerous, crossing roads safely, being visible at night, behaviour near roads and keeping safe while travelling in a car. Simple, clear text by an expert writer for the very young addresses the child reader directly and poses open questions that encourage him or her to think about the issues in their own context. Thus it will help to foster a sense of responsibility for their own safety on or near roads. The delightful illustrations by a highly successful illustrator provide many further opportunities for discussion between adult and child readers. Checked by a consultant in safety education, notes for parents, teachers and carers suggest ways to use the book and for activities that will help to consolidate the lessons learned from it. The book is completed by a list of further resources that will help extend children’s learning.
