Problem Pony

Beth wants a horse more than anything. When her family move to a new house which has a paddock – with horses! – at the end of the street, she pleads with her parents to let her have her own horse, but to no avail. After Auntie Grace breaks her leg, Beth suddenly finds herself looking after Grace’s pony, Brady, who is old and grumpy and won’t even let Beth ride him – not quite the horse she had always wanted. But Beth perseveres, grooming Brady and lungeing him. She’s determined to get him to trust her.
One day a vicious dog threatens the horse in the paddock, and Beth must cope with this dangerous situation on her own. Surprisingly, she finds a real ally in Brady, who helps to calm the other frightened horses. He has accepted her at last, and Beth knows that the worst is over. Soon she plans to ride him to the beach!
