Sarah May and the New Red Dress
Sarah May needs a new dress. It must be made out of a serviceable cloth in practical colour that won’t show the dirt. “Please let it be a red dress,” she whispers to the West Wind. But her mother chooses a dark and dismal shade of blue. When the dress is finished, Sarah May tries hard to be polite; only the wind hears her muttered complaints. She can never love her new dress. “Yooouuu wiiiillll,” the West Wind promises. “Waaaiit and seeee.”
One day Sarah May is sent in the pony trap on an errand. Ahead of her there is a big black cloud. “Watch this,” the West Wind chuckles, and a great gust blows the cloud across the sun and over Sarah May. As the rain begins to fall and soak her dress, Sarah May looks down at the drips of water coming off her hem…
