Settlements

Settlements are the places where we have our homes. Some settlements are very small – no bigger than one or two houses in the countryside. Others may span huge areas and provide homes for many people in big cities. This book looks at different types of settlements – how they grow, develop and change over time. It explores the functions and services settlements provide, and the different lifestyles of the people who live in them.
