The Barefoot Book of Stories from the Sea

Sail across the world’s great oceans with this dramatic selection of sea stories from many cultures. The anthology features not only well-known stories such as Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Little Mermaid’, but also includes stories posing questions such as ‘Why the Sea is Salty’, while others cast up all kinds of good and evil sea spirits — mermaids, giants, sea gods and water nymphs. Brimful with mystery, excitement and adventure, all of these tales are linked by an awe and respect for the sea’s majestic power.
