The Man Who Wore All His Clothes

One morning Mr Gaskitt puts on all his clothes, Mrs Gaskitt picks up a robber in her
taxi, Gus and Gloria have trouble with a teacher, Horace the cat goes to a friend’s
house to watch TV and the car radio gets things wrong. What happens next is an
action-packed, farcical romp that interweaves all the different plots, and ends in a
thrilling car chase with Mr Gaskitt saving the day!
• “The author’s sheer delight in language is obvious in the word play, clever
use of repetition and sparkling wit. Katharine McEwen’s brightly coloured
pictures combining bold colour with solid shape are the perfect complement.”

• “Magically, Allan Ahlberg always catches his young audience from the very
first page.” Kids Out magazine

Allan Ahlberg

In the early 1960s, Allan studied teacher training in Sunderland, where he also met Janet, his future wife. He had tackled a wide variety of jobs, ranging from postman to plumber’s mate before working as a primary teacher for ten years. Janet, however, discovering that she ‘couldn’t do the policing job’, went on to study graphic design, which led her to her vocation as an illustrator.
