The Muddleheaded Wombat

REPRINTING

The Muddleheaded Wombat

The Muddleheaded Wombat combines in one edition four of Ruth Park’s much-loved classics, The Muddleheaded Wombat (1962), The Muddleheaded Wombat at School (1962), The Muddleheaded Wombat on Holiday (1964) and The Muddleheaded Wombat in the Treetops (1965). Featuring one of Australia’s most adored children’s book characters of all time, these stories have never been out of print.

Wombat and his inseparable friends – the motherly and practical Mouse, and Tabby Cat whose pride, along with his tabby coat, is always being ruffled – were first introduced to children on ABC Radio in the 1950s and became instantly popular. When illustrator Noela Young brought the characters to life on paper, the books were born and many of today’s parents will have fond memories of these irresistible characters.

A delight to rediscover, or read for the very first time, this beautiful book will become a treasured possession in your child’s library. This new colour edition features all the original line drawings – published in colour for the first time in 30 years – in a fresh new design. In addition, a comprehensive section on the life and work of Ruth Park and Noela Young, along with reviews of the first editions, will appeal to all collectors of fine books.
