The True Book of Gnomes

People are intrigued by gnomes, and quick to believe that behind their steely stares they are actually living a magical, fun, imaginative life.

Remember the gnome in the movie Amelie – travelling the world, sending postcards back to his perplexed owner?

This is the whimsical tone of The True Book of Gnomes, which gives you all the inside information on the world of gnomes: where they live (up trees), what they eat, gnome magic, writing in runes, how to spot a gnome in the family, gnomes of the world, and how to recognise a member of the Garden Gnome Liberation Front – a worldwide group committed to stealing gnomes and freeing them in forests.

The book is in the voice of 11-year-old Sam who finds a runaway gnome called Tomte and hides him from gnomenappers.

There are heaps of different text types in the book: stories, interviews, quizzes, so as well as being engaging for readers 7+ it will also attract reluctant readers of all ages.

This book is quirky, unusual, imaginative. It’s genre defying. And that’s a big plus!
