Simon has an embarrassing problem: he lives three seconds ahead of everyone else. So he answers questions that haven’t yet been asked, tries to walk though doors that haven’t yet been opened and is constantly out of step with everyone and everything. Then he meets a Stitcher, whose job is to fix up glitches in the universe. The Stitcher helps him understand what’s happening, but even she has no cure, and Simon soon finds himself heading for ‘nowhen’ – which is where you go when you slip through the fabric of space-time. It’s quite literally a fate worse than death. But that’s when his dad’s flying car comes in handy, not to mention the encounter with Einstein . . .
