When You Wake and Find Me Gone

When Kit is around twenty, her life feels like it’s on track: Friends, university, independence from her big Catholic family in the country – it’s all coming together. But then Kit’s sister becomes critically ill, the family calls her back, and Kit makes a startling discovery about her sister’s identity. This leads Kit on a journey that takes her to the political minefield of Northern Ireland, to the hunger-strikes of 1981 and the events leading up to this dramatic period of not-so-distant history. It’s in this world of violence and political extremism that Kit discovers her father.
