Why Am I a Bird?

By Greg Pyers About

This series examines the world of animal classification using an investigatory approach. Each title follows the animal through various life stages, investigates how the animal copes and the characteristics it displays. By comparing the animal to animals outside the group, readers can build on their knowledge towards a fuller understanding. Clear text, large, colourful pictures and the presentation of information in various ways are some of the features of this series.

Suitable for 7-12 year olds.

Greg Pyers

Greg Pyers has written over 100 books for children and teenagers. He worked for many years in zoos, so it’s little wonder that many of his books are about wildlife. He has hosted and produced many hours of live satellite television broadcasts to schools, narrated and starred in several videos for children, and delivered many adult education programs. He became a full-time writer in 1998, following eight years as an educator in zoos and several years as a post-primary schoolteacher. His first fiction novel for young adults, Doublecrosshas been well received. The first book in the Jack Brown series was inspired during Greg’s time at the Jersey Zoo.
