Three young elephants live in a cage at the zoo, except for once each week when they stretch their legs in the zoo parade. One night when everyone is asleep they quietly tiptoe out into the city. Hopping on a bus and see all the wonders of the city until they come to the last stop The Zoo. Much to their surprise there are elephants in the parade. Beautifully written and illustrated by the author/illustrator of Dream of Bunyips Dancing.

Elise Hurst

Elise Hurst (nee Fowler) is a full-time artist, living and working in Princes Hill, Victoria. Her main work at present is as an illustrator. Elise grew up watching her mother (prominent Melbourne artist Jacqueline Fowler) and many of her relations painting in a variety of styles. Elise says this gave her a head start and she was already painting pastel landscapes while at school. She has won many awards for her artwork. Her previous Lothian books were A Dream of Bunyips Dancing and The Elephants’ Big Day Out, which was shortlisted for the 2003 Crichton Award.
